Review of The Mephisto Covenant by Trinity Faegen

I was introduced to an ARC of this book from my school librarian who picked it up at TLA because “it looked like a Sarah book”.  She was spot on! Here is my review of The Mephisto Covenant by Trinity Faegen.

I give it 5 of 5 stars!

All Sasha wants to do is find out who murdered her father, but fate has other things in store.  After being told she has a glowing aura about her by a palm reader, Sasha ignores the comment and tries to cope while getting back to her normal routine.  Then to find out her friends, who unsuccessfully try to kill her, really aren’t her friends, Sasha must make a choice.  Trust a stranger, Jax, who has his own tortured story or join Eryx cult, the one her so called friends belonged to.  Due to custody disputes following her father’s death, Sasha is thrown into a new town and school.  A new place does not mean a new start, though it makes it easier for her to decide which path to follow.   Sasha has to choose between giving up her soul to Eryx or trusting Jax and his brothers, both choices come with conditions.  The question is, which consequence is she more willing to live with.  Now while I can usually find something in the “bad” guy to root for, I was rooting against Eryx the entire book.  Even more so after it was explained why his brothers are on the opposite side fighting against Eryx.

This is a gripping adventure from the start that would appeal to girls and boys.  Trinity Faegen’s debut book, The Mephisto Covenant, is an action packed story that mixes mythology, theology and a little romance into a refreshingly original story.  I cannot wait to add this book to my collection when it comes out this fall and would highly recommend you check it out as well.   There are books that I love and then there are ones that as soon as I finish I am dying to read again.  The Mephisto Covenant was one that as soon as I finished I wanted to read again, but alas I had to share it!

This book had me hooked from chapter 1, which you can read here.

  2. Freaky. I was JUST searching for new reviews of this book on Goodreads, huffed in frustration that I had nothing new to lust over, then Class of 2011 tweeted a link to your review 2 seconds later. Clearly it was fate :)

Fantastic review! You've gotten me even MORE excited and intrigued by this book, if possible. The mythology sounds so good. Gah, I need September already!
