TGIF - The Reviews we don't write...

It's finally Friday!

This week's question from Ginger at GReads is:
The Reviews We Don't Write: Have you ever read a book and not wanted to review it? Are some books too personal that we want to keep our thoughts our own?

There are books that I have read, the I struggle to write a review because either it didn't WOW me or I LOVED it so much that I have a hard time talking about it without giving spoilers.  I'm also guilty of not finishing a couple books because I just couldn't get into the story.

Then there are the books that make me cry or I know will make me cry.  For example, POP by Gordon Korman made me cry because it hit close to home for me.  I know people who read it that were like "why did you cry?", and unless you have or have had a family member affected by the issue in this book, I can see how they wouldn't cry.  Because cancer has affected so many family members, there are some books that deal with cancer that I am slow to read because it does hit close to home.

  1. I completely agree. It's very hard to write a review for a book you don't love...I do think it's difficult to write a review for a book I loved, but it's more because I feel like I'm not doing it justice vs. difficulty actually getting words down on the page.

Also, I recently did a book that a few blogs didn't love, but hit very close to home for me...thus a big connection. I think we forget how much of an impact timing and experience has on our love of certain books!
