Review: Anew by Chelsea Fine

Format: eBook
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Summary:
Two years ago, Scarlet awoke in the forest alone, afraid, and unable to remember anything. Lost and confused, her life was a mystery...until she met a boy with a familiar voice.

Gabriel Archer has a voice from her past, and Scarlet's determined to remember why. She immerses herself in his life only to discover he has a brother he's kept hidden from her: Tristan Archer.

Upon meeting Tristan, Scarlet's world becomes even more muddled. While she's instinctively drawn to Gabriel, she's impossibly drawn to Tristan--and confused out of her mind. As she tries to piece together her history Scarlet realizes her past...might just be the death of her.

My Review:
Let me start of by saying "Have you seen the cover?!"  The contrast of colors (not to mention that purple is my favorite color) is beautiful and the font of the title with the play on a bow and arrow is striking.  Then after reading the summary I was intrigued to see what the story held and I was NOT disappointed.

It's hard for me to hear of Avalon and not think of a magical place.  It seems Avalon, Georgia has some hidden magic of it's own living in the nearby woods where Scarlet mysteriously wakes up not knowing who she was or how she got there.  I couldn't imagine waking up and not knowing who I was or anyone one, but Scarlet seems to be functioning just fine with the help of an over the top protective best friend, Heather.  She does have an adoptive mother Laura who isn't very present, but through the book I get the feeling there is more to Laura than what is revealed and my gut thinks if there is as secret she's hiding, it may not be a good.

Avalon has a kissing festival every year, where the whole town participates in kissing events and parties for three days.  It's at this festival where Scarlet first sees someone that pulls feelings out of her suppressed memories.  Then there is a voice that is like a blast out of her past and even better, the voice is attached to a very handsome Gabriel Archer.  Scarlet has been leery of letting anyone in since she doesn't even know who she is, but she allows herself to get close to Gabriel and things seem to going perfectly.  Perfect, until she meets Tristan, Gabriel's brother who looks just like him outside of his striking green eyes.  Then strange things start happening to Scarlet and she fines out why these brothers seem so familiar to her and that her future doesn't look so great.  She is determined to change things, but is also desperate to keep someone else safe, if she could only remember who before it is too late.

I don't want to give away too much, because there are things that you must discover as you read the story.  Anew has two very swoon worthy guys and lots of mystery and action.  Chelsea did an amazing job with developing the characters in a way that you love them all, and Gabriel & Tristan are amazing and I have no doubt parts of their story will pull at your heartstrings.  I can totally see why Scarlet is pulled to each one for different reasons, though I'll pulling for Tristan.  There is just something about the darker brother with the piercing green eyes that I find intriguing.

Oh, and then there is the cliffhanger ending! Oh My Goodness, there is a cliffhanger ending that will leave you begging for more!  If you love a little magic, mysterious pasts, and totally swoon worthy guys then this is the book for you.
