My Rating: 5 stars
I've had my eye on this book since I saw the cover a few months ago and then when I read the summary I was hooked!  So I was SO excited when I was approved for a copy on NetGalley for my honest review!

Everneath starts off with Nikki waking up after being asleep for 100 years, though in her old life it's only been a few months.  Nikki has so much going on emotionally when she returns that it's hard not to feel for her.  Then there is the adjustment to being back and not being able to tell anyone what really happened while listening to all the rumors about where she was.  At first I'll admit that I didn't understand why she left Cole, I mean living forever sounds cool, but as her relationship with Jack is revealed, I fully understand how holding on to his love stayed with her.  The things Cole does to try and convince her to go back with him vary from "awww he really loves her" to "OMG what a jerk".  In the end, it was Jack's ability to forgive and be patient that I found endearing.  And I was rooting for there to be a way for Nikki to stay with Jack and not have to leave her brother and dad again.

Then there were small glimpses of Cole that made me think he had a heart and meant well, but my heart was still with Jack.  The subtle hints at mythology was nice and added a little mystery to the story.  I love trying to see if I can guess what happens before it does and I had a difficult time doing that with Everneath, which is a great thing.  I finished this book within two days, in fact I woke up in the middle of the night on night and couldn't go back to sleep until I finished the book!  My the end I couldn't count how many times I held my breath and then my heart dropped!  Now, I don't want to spoil anything so I won't explain further, but the drop is not bad because I know there will be another book, but still, my heart breaks for Nikki.

If you love books with a mystery, love, and a roller-coaster of emotion, then Everneath is for you. I could gush about this book all day but I'm still working on the gushing without giving away details that are better left to be discovered as you read, but I promise that if you pick up this book, you won't be disappointed.

Add Everneath to your GoodReads shelf.
