Review: OyMG by Amy Fellner Dominy

OyMG by Amy Fellner Dominy
Released: May 10, 2011

My Rating: 5 stars!!

My review:
Who hasn't tried to hide part of who they are because at the time it seemed like the best idea?  Let's face it, in the society we live in today, "fitting it" seems to be more important that "being you".  Sometimes life presents challenges that would be easier if we ignored certain characteristics of ourselves, but in the end, being true to you is really the best way to go.

Ellie loves to debate and is quite good.  When given a scholarship application from the lady that makes the decision, she thought she could hide behind her Lutheran half and not reveal that she was Jewish until after she received the scholarship.  Well, as most teenagers eventually find out, the truth comes out rather you like it or not.  I really enjoyed watching Ellie not only deal with normal teenager stuff (crushes, getting scholarships, wanting to win and help others at the same time) and seeing how she eventually handled being Jewish in a world where she didn't think it really mattered any more.  I loved seeing how she interacted with her family and Devon and how she dealt with the good and bad of the decisions she made.

This story is not just about being Jewish, but staying true to who you are and those that truly care about you will love you for you. OyMG is such an enjoyable read that we can all learn a little something from. Oh, and it will leave you smiling....at least it did for me.
